My Shop Profile:
This functionality is unique to the Economist Bookshop, and is not related to the Economist.com site.
This allows us to recognise you on a return visit to the Economist Shop, plus allows us to get more information about your interests.
Search:
The search facility allows you to search all titles in The Economist Shop by Title, Author, Jacket text,
Publisher, ISBN Number, and Price ranges. If searching by ISBN, please do not put spaces or dashes between the digits.
VAT:
Value Added Tax is not applicable to books bought in the United Kingdom. It is applicable to purchases
of diaries and accessories by customers in the European Union at 15% unless a valid VAT registration number is provided.
VAT is also applied to packing and despatch costs for all EU customers.
View Shopping Basket:
This shows all the items you have placed in your shopping basket and shows the total cost, exclusive of postage.
If you wish to remove an item, simply click on the "Delete" button, and your shopping cart will be automatically emptied of that product.
To increase the quantity of any title, click on the quantity box, delete the number and key in the quantity you require. Then select the "Update" button to reflect the changes on screen.
If you do make any changes to your order at the Checkout, please click on the "update" button to
ensure that the revised information is recorded.
Select the destination from the Countries box to calculate the cost of postage automatically.
Enter your VAT number if you have one. Please note that if you are a UK customer you are not able to enter your
VAT number as VAT is payable on all goods, and you will be required to fill out a rebate form to your Customs & Excise department.
Once you are satisfied with your order, the "Proceed to Checkout" button takes you to the payment and delivery sections.
Purchasing Process:
All fields with an asterick must be completed.
If you are a registered member of the www.economist.com site, you may enter your Email address and
Password and click Submit. That will automatically return your delivery name and address as stored on Economist.com.
If you want to register at Economist.com you may do so by selecting the "Register with Economist.com". By returning to the Economist
Shop screen and entering your new Economist.com details they will be automatically filled in.
If your Delivery details are different to the Billing details supplied tick the "No" radio button. Then complete the screen that appears and select "continue"
Check that all details are correct and press "Proceed To checkout"
You are now transmitted to the Economist Payment centre held at WorldPay. Please note that this is a secure site. Select your Payment Card type and complete your details then click on the Make Payment button.
Once you have confirmed your credit card details, you will be informed if your payment has been successful, you will also receive a receipt of your order by e-mail. If any part of your order is out of stock, we will notify you and ask you to give us one of the following instructions:
- Hold order until all items are in stock
- Send available items now and the out-of-stock items later
- Send only the available items
- Cancel order and refund your card.
Packing & Dispatch:
Your order will be despatched within three working days. Please note that all orders outside of the UK will be dispatches by courier. Internal UK deliveries will be sent via courier or Mail depending on the option chosen
Returns:
You may return any item within 15 days, in its original condition, and we will issue a full refund for the cost of the item. We can only refund shipping costs if the return is a result of our error
